The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has launched the Ntoroko NRM United Forum, a new mobilisation structure aimed at consolidating the party’s support in the Rwenzori and Tooro regions ahead of the 2026 general elections.
The forum was officially unveiled by Senior Presidential Advisor on Mobilisation Misach Kawamala during an event that drew hundreds of residents.
He described the launch as a renewed push to strengthen party unity and improve coordination within the district.
“Today, we are not just launching a forum; we are building a stronger front for the NRM in Ntoroko. Our focus is unity, service and winning overwhelmingly in 2026,” Kawamala said.
The event also witnessed a wave of defections from the opposition, with more than 30 former National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters publicly joining the NRM.
The group, led by Nasson Mugumbe, pledged to contribute to the party’s strategy for a decisive victory in the upcoming polls.
“We have joined the NRM because we believe in its vision and the direction it is giving the country. We want to be part of the development agenda,” Mugumbe said.
Kawamala welcomed the new members, saying the defections reflect growing confidence in the ruling party’s leadership and service record.
“I gladly receive our brothers and sisters who have chosen to join the NRM. Their decision reflects trust in the progress our party continues to deliver across the country,” he said.
Local leaders also hailed the formation of the Ntoroko NRM United Forum, arguing that the district has long needed a coordinated structure to streamline messaging and improve mobilisation.
“The launch of the Ntoroko NRM United Forum strengthens our mobilisation efforts. For long, we needed a coordinated platform to engage our people effectively,” said Ismael Muhwezi, the NRM vice chairperson for Ntoroko.
